Dear Gay & Lesbian Elder Housing Supporter,
We made history on March 22, 2007 with the Grand Opening of the nation’s first low-income affordable housing development, Triangle SquareTM. The news of this groundbreaking project and its importance was viewed across the country. We are proud to have the Robert W. Schutrum Activity Center on site which will provide social and recreational services to our GLBT seniors. Our goal is to provide a safe, nurturing environment that supports the well-being of GLBT older adults.
With residents beginning to move in, this dream, our mission is becoming a reality. We have already learned just how much our seniors need housing throughout the application process over the past few months. The majority of the applicants have an annual income of less than $15,000 per year, some significantly lower, which illustrates the significance of our mission in meeting the most basic and

Triangle Square is a 100% handicap accessible apartment building with a social services community center for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender older adults. 35 of the affordable housing units are set aside for low-income HIV/AIDS, homeless, and at-risk of becoming homeless residents. Community rooms, computer labs, laundry rooms, and an activity pool are also available for our residents.
Below, please find a letter from one senior who just received notification that he has been approved to move in as a resident of Triangle Square TM. We need your help for Gay and Lesbian Elder Housing to continue to be here for seniors like him.
We thank you for your time and consideration. We look forward to whatever support you can provide. Please also check for matching funds through your employer as many companies have matching programs of which you may not be aware.

Dear Mark:
I would be remiss if I did not take a moment and say a heartfelt thanks for all your efforts on my behalf. In that quiet place in most of our hearts where we place our worries and concerns; and hope that as we travel through life we will encounter people such as yourself who will have our best interests at heart and help us find the comfort and peace in life that is necessary to good health. A Doctor who cares, a nurse who looks after us all when ill, people in charge of programs public and private who services we will need as we live out our lives.
I took great pride in my years of living of always trying to look at the people I cared for as a family member, and I would always try to do my best for them, I have found that same care and concern with you and the entire staff at the Gay elder housing facility “ Triangle Square.”
My life has been difficult these last few years and never in a million years did I think I would have the opportunity now presented to me-- that is to live in a home that is not only beautiful, but safe, and managed by people whose professionalism begins with kindness and concern. I can’t wait to move in and begin a new chapter in my life.
Mark, to you and your wonderful staff, my heartfelt thanks, evidently my future life is going to be a lot better than the last few years. I am blessed with lovely friends and family, but now I have a place where they can visit me safely and I can be proud the minute I open that door, and say, welcome to my new home.
Sincerely,
A Future Resident
